The devastation in Kentucky is incredible. Maybe that's what happens when resident of Kentucky keep voting for climate change deniers who oppose any legislation to combat it. Oh, and since the deeply red state also hates socialism, I'm sure they won't take any aid from the federal government. They just need to pull themselves up by the bootstraps.

Billionaires are just serial killers with a more impressive body count. Think about singlehandedly having the resources to positively change the course of the entire planet on a big structural issue like global hunger, education or climate change, but instead choosing to hoard your wealth. Then even creepier, act as though you're still the saviour of humanity by indulging in your 80s scifi geek fantasies about getting us all to Mars just in time to avoid the apocalypse caused by people like YOU in the first place. These people are more powerful than entire countries in themselves and that is absolutely terrifying, especially when they all basically think of themselves as Tony Stark level super geniuses...IDK, but I remember a whole lot of explosions and planet ending wars in those movies.

The propaganda machine is about to get worse...all these floods and fires and straight up climate refugees, and a huge portion of the population thinks climate change is a conspiracy. Which is a double kick in the gut when you realise that the whole "climate change is a conspiracy" thing was actually started by Exxon...so these people basically believe a conspiracy of a conspiracy. Interestingly, it was also BP who came up with the carbon footprint...so they could lay all the blame at individual action on the part of the consumer while the big global companies doing all the damage continue to do damage. Anyone seen Idiocracy? We're halfway there...

The animal shelter will not accept any blanket with stuffing, like a bedspread, or any fitted sheets. That disqualifies a lot of what I put aside to donate. I'm just annoyed with the whole situation. I also have a limit to how much effort I'm willing to put into this stuff. Yes, some things go into landfills. The planet isn't going to die because my fitted sheet went into a landfill or because somebody used disposable diapers. Big corporations are causing climate change. I am doing my best, but I'm at the point where I will not feel guilty if I can't put every unused item in my home into someone's hands. It is what it is.

How is it possible that the right wing always claims the left politicizes everything? Like they successfully convinced everyone gay people were doing wrong and then bitched they were sick of hearing about politics when gay marriage was the big thing, now it's the transgender people...pretty sure neither of these groups *want* to be political. Then they successfully managed to politicize science not once but twice, with climate change and Covid. They politicized wearing a fucking face mask. They're just literally guilty of everything they accuse others of at this point. Literally all of their "arguments" boil down to, "No, you."

This. Also, I'm voting for the person who will appoint Ruth Bader Ginsburg's replacement. I'm voting for the person who will make healthcare more affordable and accessible, not less. I'm voting for the person who will address the education crisis instead of appointing a large donor with absolutely no education experience or knowledge whatsoever as the secretary of education. I'm voting for the person who will address climate change instead of saying that scientists "don't know." Look, I really wish, for once, I had choices other than one old, white, male sexual predator or another old, white, male sexual predator. But here we are. Since those are my choices, I will choose the one that will serve the people instead of his own pocketbook.

Also people blame the left because they're fucking idiots who believe climate change isn't real and all Muslims are sex traffickers. They're sad, fear based individuals who put the blame on everyone else for everything. As for the seasonal farm jobs, those involve people who come in yearly, not live here full time.

I always knew my dad was a far right wing conspiracy nut, but I just found out my brother doesn't believe in climate change. Social media has ruined critical thinking. It's so depressing. My dad literally believes the moon landing is fake. He's an educated atheist person, not the type to fall into this nonsense at all. It's seriously depressing. I suppose I should be grateful he knows the earth isn't flat, but it's kind of hard when he's an immigrant hating, low key sexist who believe climate change is a hoax and Trump and Boris are the greatest people ever.

What's with the language policing tho? It seems petty. That person was obviously upset about the politicians who keep claiming they care about climate change while escalating oil exploration. I'm pissed off about that too, it's scary. That seems a little more important than the way someone chooses to express themselves, which is often generational and has absolutely nothing to do with the validity of someone's point. Between this and the fartsicle who attempted (wrongly) to correct the spelling of someone who was confessing to being sexually assaulted multiple times, it kind of explains why this site is so inactive. People just jump on each other for stupid, petty stuff. There's so much nasty, evil shit going on in the world, just let people express it. If you have a valid counterpoint, then make it instead of complaining about their expression.

I love this post. But can we talk about how sad it is that climate change discussion is seen as left wing? Science with a 97% and rising consensus in the scientific community is "left wing." Facts are "left wing." Fuck that's depressing.
